About Chef Castro Boateng

Castro Boateng, originally born in the West African country of Ghana, immigrated with his family to Canada when he was nine years old.

After graduating from culinary school in Toronto, Castro worked under European Master Chefs Stewart Cameron and Colin Watson at the prestigious Turnberry Resort, Scotland. He then went on to work at The Fairmont Southampton Princess in Bermuda; as Chef de Cuisine of Eden, the five-diamond restaurant at the Rimrock Resort Hotel in Banff, Alberta; and as the Executive Chef at the Aerie Resort. Castro now lives in Victoria, BC with his family.

With over 17 years of professional culinary experience, Castro has integrated his love for creative art and food into a successful fine catering business and lounge. Known for high end corporate events, weddings, private dining, foraging tours, cooking classes, consulting services and food styling – Chef Castro is pleased to share his passion for unique fine dining experiences with his clients on Vancouver Island.

His raw talent, admirable flavour combination and natural creativity have propelled him to the top of the podium at many culinary competitions, including the Fine Grain Master 2017, the Hungry Hearts 2017 and 2014, Colour Your Palate 2015 and 2014, Alberta’s Young Chef competition 2005, Bermuda’s Young Chef Challenge 2003. Chef Castro was also chosen as the first catering company to be invited to the Gold Medal Plates in 2015.

From humble beginnings, Chef Castro has worked his way up the ladder and continues to show why he is one of the best Chefs on Vancouver Island. His philosophy is simply fresh ingredients, delightfully personal service and seriously good food!
